These notes do not override rules and by laws specified in the club members handbook and were written after the 2026 club agm,so may vary from those in the membership handbook.
Specific rules apply at Point Field in addition to the club’s general angling rules. Fair fishing with respect for other members and to avoid ‘over-fishing’, allowing the maximum number of members to enjoy the facility, was a major factor in our recent review of rules for Point Field.
A 2 rod limit, maximum 2kg of bait use per day per angler and strict booking restrictions for night fishing, limited to 2 consequtive nights per angler and a ban on the use of spods, spombs and bait boats by anglers at this water. These restrictions are on environmental and safety grounds, mainly to avoid profusion growth of blue algae growth and resultant reportable closure of the water.
Concerned about safety, the committee have introduced a ruling that juniors under 7 years of age not allowed to night fish. To encourage and allow the development of new junior members, children between the ages 7- 12 years may night fish on club waters when closely attended by an adult member who is entirely responsible for that child’s safe care.
To avoid potential loss of fishing permission from the land owner, strict policing of anti-social toileting behaviours, littering and safe gate security, increased random bailiff and security patrols have been introduced.
At Point Field, night fishing is available for members only, but MUST be pre-booked by phoning the number in the rule book. Foor safety under 7’s (even if accompanied by their parent are not allowed to night fish).Night bookings are strictly number limited to one or two night sessions and can be booked by phoning Carrie Kellar, the booking agent/ bailiff well in advance.
At all waters, the majority of valued and respected members are asked to assist the committee and bailiffs to identify that minority of selfish and anti-social anglers, including any non-members, who jeopodise the goodwill of the landowners who allow us access to fish on their property.
